    Biography

Lived in The Hague, Händellaan 25. Son of Jan Adriaanse and Maria van Dijke. Married to A.S. Groen. Shipping inspector/first officer Government Navy. He was also a reserve lieutenant commander second class in the Royal Navy. Before the Dutch army, including the Royal Navy, capitulated, he was commander of the Marinevendel in Batavia. Adriaanse, like other military personnel, was captured and interned. At the beginning of 1944, for an unclear reason, he was transferred by the Kempeitai (Japanese secret military police) to the Tjipinang prison in Batavia. There he was mercilessly abused. As a result of this violence and exhaustion he succumbed.
