    Biography

    Helmsman Holland-America-Line

    In the autumn of 1941, Van den Berghe attempted to cross the North Sea as an England sailor. However, this was discovered by the occupiers and Van den Berghe was imprisoned in the 'Oranjehotel' in Scheveningen from November 11, 1941 to August 19, 1942. On August 19, 1942 he was shot on the Waalsdorpervlakte. He was buried at the Loenen National Cemetery.
