René Jacob Adriaan Bol was the son to Jacob Bol (passed away on October 3rd, 1930 at 's Gravenzande) and Johanna Adriana Prins. He lived at Graaf Florisstraat 64B in Rotterdam. René Bol was not married and worked as an employee with the NS (Dutch Railway). Taking part in the Dutch Railway Strike as from September 17th, 1944, he hid himself together with his collegue Sjoerd Stoker (born on February 26th, 1920 in Wijhe) at the Reitze Hoekstra family at No. 131 in Katlijk, Friesland, the Netherlands.
As a result of treason, both were arrested and to be transferred to Vries in Drenthe, the Netherlands to work at a digging site. Sabotage on the railway at Stobbegat between Heerenveen and Akkrum was to become their death. Both were transferred to the location of the sabotage and shot by the SD Heerenveen as a reprisal to the sabotage.
On May 4th, 2003 a monument was reveiled at the bell chair of the Dutch Reformed Church in Katlijk to remember them both.
