Lecture:
"Distinctly distinguished himself in battle by performing excellent acts of courage, policy and loyalty by voluntarily going to the Netherlands on 27 August 1940 as the first parachutist organizer and acquitting himself of his task in a commendable manner under extremely difficult and dangerous circumstances. As a result of his reports submitted by radio, factories and other important targets working for the enemy could be bombed. It was also thanks to his tireless work and his great perseverance that an organization could soon be set up in occupied Netherlands to continuously transfer valuable information about the enemy from occupied Netherlands to England.
In an attempt to transfer the experiences, information and documents he had gained in the Netherlands to England, captured by the enemy in October 1940, he spared his co-workers to the best of his ability by an unassailable, brave attitude during his interrogations and by taking all the blame upon himself. Finally he was sentenced to death and executed on 13 June 1941.
Thus in utmost consciousness he gave his life for the Fatherland, his example was inspiring for the later resistance."
Lodewijk A.R.J. Hamel was posthumously added to the register by Royal Decree 37 of 4 October 1946.
