    Biography

    Lived in Medemblik, Tuinstraat 32. Son of factory worker Wubbe Meijer (28 September 1886 Oude Pekela - 22 December 1949 Oude Pekela) and Geertruida Sijp (9 November 1892 Nieuwe Pekela). Married to Wilhelmina Frederika Cabalt (two children). Stoker/electrician/casual labourer. No religion. Meijer was not part of the resistance.
    During the war he was forced to work for the Wehrmacht. He was arrested on 2 February 1945 for theft. After drawing up an official report, he was released. But on 8 February 1945 he was arrested again when the GrĂ¼ne Polizei found a pistol during a search of his home. After his arrest, he was transferred to the prison on Weteringschans in Amsterdam. As reprisal for the attack on SS-Befehlshaber Hanns Albin Rauter on 6 March 1945 near Woeste Hoeve, he was executed by firing squad along with 52 others at Rozenoord on Amsteldijk.
