Lived in Tiel, Waterstraat 25. Son of Barthold Weijman (hotel owner) and Johanna van Doorn. Married Engelberta Harmsen (December 29, 1907 - May 10, 1988). Holder of a cigar warehouse. Member resistance. He was taken hostage on December 23, 1944. His hiding place at a bakery in Wadenoijen was probably betrayed.
On December 21, 1944, the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) raided the van Elzen family at 59 Papesteeg in Tiel, an address where resistance activities took place. At this address Mr. and Mrs. van Elzen with their three children resided, as well as a British pilot in hiding. During the raid, Mr. J. van Elzen was able to escape. His wife and the pilot were captured, while the children were placed elsewhere. Mrs. van Elzen was transferred to the Tiel police station. Afraid that Mrs. van Elzen would break through during an interrogation, the resistance made an attempt to free her from the police station. The relief succeeded, after which Mrs. and Mr. van Elzen and their children were transferred across the Waal to the liberated area. However, the Germans took measures after the action of the resistance. Oberst Dewald, the German commander in the area, ordered that five inhabitants from a list of 50 from Tiel should be shot if it was not known who the resistance members were before 12 noon on 24 December 1944.
W. van den Bogaard, J.J. Daalderop, I. Dasberg, N.A. Oostinga and C. Weijman were eventually shot at 12.30 pm in the courtyard of the prison in Tiel.
His name is on the Tiel war memorial ''Krijger voor hij dodelijk getroffen word"(Warrior before he is killed).
In 2018, a parking garage was opened at the old location of the prison, here a new monument was also unveiled at the entrance in memory of the five victims.
