    Biography

    Lived in Amersfoort, Prinses Marielaan 25. Son of Petrus Jacobus Groenendaal and Catharina Maria Bitter. Married on 22 December 1918 in Amersfoort to Alberta Catharina Armina van der Post.

    Employee at the H.V.A. (Amsterdam Trade Association)/Lieutenant-at-sea 2nd class Royal Navy
    Groenendaal was called up for military service in 1942 and assigned to the training for Royal Navy officer. At the end of February 1942 he left Tjilatjap for Australia. After the capitulation of Japan he returned to Java and was assigned to RAPWI. He was captured by extremists in Semarang in October 1945 and murdered by them on 17 October 1945.
    Buried outside the war cemeteries.
