Fourth mate of the merchant ship Langkoeas.

More than ninety crew members of the steamship were killed by the explosion of a torpedo in the engine room, drowned or massacred when they were fired upon from the Japanese submarine I 58 while in the boats or in the water. Like the other victims, Van Dusschoten was given a seaman's grave.
