    "On the night of 16th-17th November, 1944 Sgt Williams was the Number 2 of the leading foldlboat which attacked an enemy motorboat on the Chindwin. Throughout the action he fired his TSMG with such accuracy that the enemy was forced to turn away as planned, towards the LMG. During the boarding, this NCO helped to bring his foldboat alongside with precision and efficiency, and on the return journey kept the enemy well covered. On the 29th-30th November, 1944 Sgt Williams was in charge of the bren gun in the bows of the assault boat ordered to attack the enemy off Kalewa. Throughout the and showed marked ability and leadership. His continued cheerfulness, coupled with a willingness, was at all times a source encouragement to all ranks."
