For bringing home the San Demetrio of London, (eagle line) She had been attacked and set a blaze by the German battleship Admiral Scheer. After abandoning ship they later encountered it again and decided to re-board her and bought her safely home. On that fateful November 5th they had been part of a convoy that had to scatter, many of the ships saved that day owe a debt of gratitude for the brave actions and sacrifice of the crew of HMS Jarvis Bay.
