He has distinguished himself by his conduct in combat against the enemy by having repeatedly displayed great courage and determination as commander of a section of armoured cars during the fighting for Overschie on May 12th and 14th, 1940. Despite his vehicle being hit repeatedly he has carried on and by doing so supported the infantry forcefully.
