"On 24th April 1942 he successfully carried out the destruction of the NAMTU mines, so denying their effective use to the Japanese. Between 6th and 9th May 1942 he supervised and set off charges destroying the five main bridges between MYITKYINA and SUMPRABUM. On 8th February 1942 he was dropped by parachute 250 miles behind the Japanese lines in Northern Burma, since which date he has assisted in bridge and railway destruction, and the passing back of valuable intelligence. Throughout all the above operations this officer has displayed high qualities of endurance, courage and resource."
