Dirk Ploeg was born on July 11th, 1891 in the Hague as son to Johannes Christiaan Wilhelmus Ploeg (1859-1942) and Reintje ten Hoed (1857-1927). He married Hendrika Alida Johanna Clasener (1887-1949) in 1918. He died on May 9th, 1945 with the disaster of the m.s. Joanna. Beceause his remains were not found before May 23rd, that dfate was registered as his date of death.
