Biography
Prokofi F. Shevchenk served in the Tsarist army from 1915 to 1918 and joined the revolutionaries in 1918. He also served during the Second World War at the frontline from 1941 to March 1944, after which he was transferred to the military commissariat of the rayon Ilyich. The Major was eventually placed in reserve 2nd degree on May 31 1946 because of his age.
