He has distinguished himself by performing particularly courageous and tactful acts in combat against the enemy by joining an important military intelliegence group in occupied Holland in November 1943 and immediately excelling by his accurate reconnaissance and establishing various valuable connections, making himself a member of the core of the group in early 1944.
Furthermore by organizing and directing reconnaissancework in Noord Holland and the northern part of Zuid Holland, yielding the most valuable information, especially from the hardly accessible coastal defence area, information which gave a good insight in troop deployment and defence policy of the enemy. Furthermore by establishing a trainingcenter to recruit and train new agents for the various parts of the country.
Finally by managing to extract from enemy staffs themselves information on their plans for defence, retreat and inundation, the knowledge of which has been of great importance.
In having done so, he has rendered important services to the Allied conduct of the war and to the Dutch Government.
