Biography

Pavel Khmelev was born in 1923 in the Kazakh village of Kok-Tal. He was drafted into service in March 1942, under the Central Soviet Front. He was killed on December 13 1943, during heavy fighting around the Ukrainian city of Zhytomyr. Khmelev was posthumously awarded the 'Hero of the Soviet Union" title.

He is buried in the village of Budilovka (Zhytomyr region).
