Recommendation:
For eminent military service, renderd to the Fatherland in times of war as crewmember of H.M communicationvessel H.M. De Mok 1. Between May 31st and June 4th, 1940, said vessel rendered excellent assistance in the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk under heavy bombing attacks and intense machinegunfire from enemy aircraft and was lost in the end after a collision with a French destroyer. It was in part due to his display of cool-headedness and determination that important units of this expeditionary force could safely be transfered to England aboard this vessel.
Royal Decree no. 19 dated 30 January, 1941.
