"In March 1945, Guards Lt. Vasin and his men overran the first German trenches and entered the town of (?), destroying 5 enemy positions, killing 43 Nazis and capturing 9 of them. The enemy then launched a strong counter-attack with artillery support and additional support of 8 tanks and 5 self-propelled guns on the company site. Lt. Vasin was wounded, but refused to leave his post. When the heavy machine gun faulted, Lt. Vasin personally picked up a weapon and killed 15 Nazis.
On April 18, 1945, he and his men launched a counterattack on the enemy, which were entrenched at that time on Height 80.5, south of Reichenberg. The enemy's fire was so intense that our infantry could not advance. On this moment, Lt. Vasin lunged forward and died a heroic death in the enemy trenches."
