Biography

During WWII Addison Merrick served as a radio operator in a B-29 bomber in the South Pacific. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the 883rd Bombardment Squadron.
After the war he went back to Montclair and worked for the Montclair Times newspaper
Merrick got a bachelor’s degree at Middlebury College in 1948, and later a PhD from Harvard University. Subsequently he taught English literature at Johnson State College, including science fiction, fantasy, and Russian literature.
