3rd Battalion - Company B - 3rd Platoon

During a patrol under the command of Sgt Hendrik Kathagen in Opheusden, he was badly wounded in his thigh and lower abdomen by machine-gun bullets. He was transferred to the field hospital in Zetten and from there to an unspecified airfield. He was then flown over to Britain but died during that flight. Albert Billen was immediately returned to the Netherlands and was buried at the Canadian cemetery in Groesbeek (NL).
