"On 6 Sep 44 at YPRES he led his reconnaissance section (2 Stuart tanks). With gallantry and excellent speed he had taken the bridge near the railway station. While his other tank was damaged, Sjt. FLIGIEL remained on the place under very heavy enemy fire. Doing so, he secured the bridge so that he German could not destroy it, and enabled the crew to evacuate the damaged tank (the second of his section)."
