"On 11 Aug 44, area CAEN / 0852 7F / as leader of the Brigade Commander's tank, and also being responsible for the Brigade Commander's **, he remained with his tank on a very exposed spot during heavy bombardment from the air. He did not move under cover as that would have interfered with the maintenance of wireless communication. His courage, calm manner, and self control made it possible that wireless communication ** the regiments was kept up through out this critical period."
