Biography

Schoute is a reserve 2nd lieutenant pilot in the Military Aviation and flies the modern Fokker G-1 fighters. He is assigned to the 4th Ja.V.A. On Monday, May 13, 1940, flying in a G-1, he accompanied a second G-1 flown by Jhr. B. Sandberg, the last remaining bomber, the Fokker T-V "856 on a flight to bomb the road bridge at the Moerdijk. On the outward flight, above Nieuw-Lekkerland, the formation is attacked by Me 109s that attack the T-V and the G-1 from Shooting down Schoute. All occupants of both aircraft - a total of 7 pilots including Paul Schoute - are killed.
Initially, Schoute is buried in Nieuw-Lekkerland. However, Schoute's remains were given a final resting place on Thursday, June 20, 1940 at the 'Moscowa' General Cemetery in Arnhem.
