"For extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy, while Commanding the Medoc Brigade, Army Detachment of the Atlantic, in the successful operation on the Pointe De Grave, from 14 to 19 April 1945. Colonel De Milleret continually inspired his most advanced elements by his utter disregard for danger in densely mined areas under heavy enemy artillery, mortar, and small-arms fire. On 19 April, under direct and intense fire, Colonel De Milleret personally placed the French flag on top of the Verdon lighthouse, inspiring his troops by this typically French gesture to the final effort which broke the German resistance on the Pointe De Grave. Colonel de Milleret's outstanding accomplishments, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the Allied Nations."
