"During recent operations Signaller Griffiths has at all times proved himself to be a brave and fearless soldier. On the morning of 27th October, 1942, he was attached to 10 Platoon C. Coy. 1/CTH. He was in charge of a test phone to B. Coy. 1./C.T.H.. At 8.46 hrs communications to this company failed, and in the face of intense enemy Anti-Tank, Mortar and Machine-Gun fire, Signaller Griffiths set off across exposed ground to repair the line. He was twice forced to return, but on the third attempt at 11.00 hrs he reached "B" Coy and re-established communications. During his journey he repaired no less than fifteen breakes in the line."
