Biography

During a mortar firing exercise in Mali on July 6, 2016 the 24-year-old Corporal Kevin Roggeveld and the 29-year-old sergeant of 1st Class Henry Hoving died. A soldier of the 1st class of 23, was seriously injured.

Both perished soldiers are from the mortar group of Charlie Company of 13th Infantry Battalion Airmobile Brigade in Assen. The seriously wounded soldier is a colleague of the same unit.

The accident happened south of Kidal, almost 300 kilometers from Gao. Since the Dutch main force has been stationed for participating in the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (Minusma). For this mission of the United Nations, some 400 Dutch troops deployed to Mali.
