Period:
Second World War (1939-1945)
Rank:
Acting Flight Lieutenant
Unit:
No. 300 (Masovian) Squadron, Royal Air Force
Awarded on:
September 5th, 1942
Recommendation:
"On the night of 22nd January 1942, this officer completed a particularly successful attack on the marshalling yard at Munster. An excellent photograph which he secured shows his bombs bursting on the target. He has at all times shown high courage and coolness in the face of adverse circumstances, while his determination, both to locate his correct target and bomb it accurately, has set a fine example. On one occasion after his aircraft was forced to alight on the sea, he was mainly responsible for the survival of his crew who were ultimately rescued after drifting in the dinghy for some four hours. Flying Officer Zurawski is a fine leader of men."

Award approved 5 September, 1942.
Recommendation drafted 29 January 1942 when he was a Flying Officer and had flown 28 sorties (164 operational hours).
Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC)
