"On the 29th November 1943 Lt ADAM's Company attacked MOZZAGROGNA. The Company suffered very heavy casualties from machine gun fire. The Company Commander and two subalterns were killed. Lt ADAMS then commanded the Company and with great courage and determination led them on to their objective which was captured after over fifty of his Company had been killed or wounded. He quickly re-organized under shellfire and was able to beat off a fierce counter-attack. During the whole of the battle Lieut ADAMS showed great personal courage and marked leadership when his men were exhausted and undoubtedly saved a very dangerous situation from developing.
