Biography

Lieutenant (Tahi-i) Isamu Mochizuki (望月 勇) was an IJN flying ace with 7 credited air victories. He was killed on Roi-Namur in 1944, after the pilot became stranded on the island due to the U.S. invasion. Mochizuki was posthumously promoted to Captain. He was known for inventing the 'loop and roll' dogfight technique.
