Aboard the USS Landsdale as Assistant Communications Officer. Convoy USG 38 eastbound off the coast of Algeria, Landsdale is sunk by JU88 and Heinkle 111 torpedo bombers at 2100. At first attack Ensign Edquist is wounded at his post on the CIC. Radio equipment impact to the head. Survived and later served at aboard the USS Saufley in the Philippines at Lingayen Gulf.
