On 15 January 1944, Ivanov sneaked a German machine gun post near the village of Bolshie Boboviki, 25 km to the south-east of Vitebsk, and silenced it with grenades, ensuring the seccesful actions of the unit.

On June 25, 1944, Ivanov (serving in a reconnaissance group) made his way tot the enemy's rear at the village of Dubrovka, Mogilev region, where he personally silenced a machine-gun position, and then, after firing from the captured machine gun, suppressed the other two firing points. On July 2, 1944, he participated in crossing of the Berezina in the Zhornovka village, Berezinsky district of the Minsk region, monitoring the enemy's movements. he was wounded during the repelling of six massive German counterattacks, but continued to fight. He was demobilized for longterm wounds in 1944.
