19.05.1944: 'U-960' was able to escape a first attack but was located again in the Mediterranean Sea coming from La Pallice. Eleven depth charge attacks were carried out, but the boat was able to escape. She was detected again at 6.09 a.m. and the destroyers opened fire while the Wellington "M" dropped depth charges while flying low.
'U-960' was submerged, but was forced to surface again by the USS NIBLACK depth charges.
The crew left the ship. 20 survived while 31 died
