He attended Felsted School and left to join the RAF. He served with 149, 150 and 105 squadrons. He qualified as a Pathfinder in 1943 but on his second flight in a Mosquito with 105 squadron he was shot down and killed. He was buried with his pilot, Benjamin Reynolds, in Herwijnen, Netherlands.
