"This officer completed an operational tour in Coastal Command in 1940 in Beaufort aircraft. He has now done 31 bomber sorties with this squadron, in the course of which he has always maintained a high standard of skilful and courageous flying. Though quiet in manner, his tenacity and aggressive spirit are much in evidence. Most of his sorties with this squadron have been in the responsible role of target marker, and his reliability in these duties in complete disregard for the opposition encountered has been a considerable contribution to the accurate bombing of the enemy."
