"As pilot and captain, this officer has participated in a number of sorties against various targets. In December, 1944, he was pilot in an aircraft detailed to attack Dortmund. When nearing the target the aircraft came under fire from the ground defences and was hit. Flying Officer Orman was wounded in the face. In spite of this he went on to execute a successful attack. Not until the aircraft was well clear of the defences on the homeward flight did this resolute pilot inform any of his crew of his injury. His tenacity and devotion to duty were typical of that which he has shown on all occasions."
