"As pilot of a Dakota aircraft this airman participated in three successful sorties during the airborne operations at Arnhem. On the third occasion, whilst the panniers were being dropped, the aircraft sustained damage. Nevertheless, the remainder of the supplies were released over the correct zone. The aircraft then caught fire and the crew were compelled to abandon it by parachute. Flight Sergeant Webster alighted in the Rhine near the north bank and immediately swam to the other side. Shortly afterwards he returned to this country , having evaded capture."
