Recommendation:
He has distinguished himself by courageous conduct in combat against the enemy on March 17, 1949 as commander of a patrol during an action against terrorist gangs near Kampong Sekarpura (Malang district, eastern Java) when his patrol came face to face with a gang, heavily armed with automatoc weapons and having engaged this majority with his small group without hesitation.
Furthermore by fearlessly and in a tactically correct fashion having launched and led the attack, killing 30 men of the enemy until he was forced to disengage from the fight for lack of ammunition, thereby sustaining a life threatening injury.
