Recommendation:
For having distinguished himself in combat against the enemy as officer of the Dutch Detachment United Nations in Korea when on January 4, 1952, a patrol in which he was posted as commander of a flamethrower team was ordered to launch an attack on Silver Star Hill. When the attack was in danger of bogging down, as a result of the heavy counter fire and hand grenades, he forced the flamethrower operator to go forward as well and by this conduct, the morale of the enemy had weakend to such an extent that the patrol could complete its alloted task. He was killed during the contimuation of this action.
