Recommendation:
He has distinguished himself in combat against the enemy during the battle of the Sea of Java as medical officer after the ship had been hit, by continuing to treat one injured man after the other in the various compartments under the most adverse conditions, thereby paying no attention to himself and continuing for hours with his clothes, tattered and besmirched, hanging from his body.

Posthumously awarded
