Recommendation:
He has distinguished himself by exceptionnally courageous and tactful actions as chief radio operator of an importnt intelligence and resistance group in areas occupied by the enemy in the years 1942 and 1943. He traveled all across the country in order to set up a number of transmitting stations and recruiting and training the necessary personnel. In the spring of 1943 he managed to make contact with the Bureau Inlichtingen (Intelligence Office) in London with a transmittor that had been smuggled in, maintaining regular radio traffic over a period of 4 months, handling a sizable number of telegrams himself.
He was arrested after having been betrayed and was sentenced to death in 1944; however, he returned afthe the liberation as the sentence had not been executed.
