Second World War (1939-1945)

Temporary Captain

January 24th, 1946
"This officer has been employed as Adjutant for the whole period during which this Regiment has been on the Continent. In November 1944, the Commanding Officer was killed in action, and a replacement was not send for six weeks. A large amount of extra work and responsibility devolved on this officer, which he was both willing to accept and capable of accepting. The new Commanding Officer has to learn a new Regiment and a new job, it being his first experience of A.A. This task was made easier by the more than helpful attitude of Capt WAIN. At all times his sense of duty and loyalty have been beyond question and above praise. In addition, when on four occasions he has been within 300 yards of "V" weapon explosions at ANTWERP, and in April under fire during the attack on ARNHEM, he has shown qualities of courage and leadership of a very high order."
Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)
Awarded on:
1950
Efficiency Medal / Territorial Decoration
