Biography

John J. Chimenti was the pilot of B-17G "Cicero Kid", 42-97101, departed on November 9th, 1944 for a mission to Saarbrücken. It was the planes and mens 33rd Mission.
Over Fouches, Belgium, engine 4 caught fire for unknown reason possibly flak, after which the plane exploded into three parts. Pilot John J. Chimenti and Co-pilot James D. Clark were killed. The other seven crew members managed to escape with their parachutes.

1st Lieutenant John J. Chimenti, pilot;
1st Lieutenant James D. Clark, co-pilot;
1st Lieutenant William M. Foster, navigator;
1st Lieutenant Daniel F. Gilmore, bomber;
Technical Sergeant Arthur E. Weiss, radio operator;
Technical Sergeant Gratborn H. Cooper, engineer, top turret gunner;
Staff Sergeant Samuel M. Lomgtine, belly turret gunner;
Staff Sergeant Willie H. Dew, right waist gunner;
Staff Sergeant Michael J. Kuzel, tail gunner;
Satff Sergeant W. W. Black, left waist gunner.
