I.) Distinguishing himself during the defensive battle of the IX. Armeekorps, fought astride the Dubysa river and near Raseinen. Here he showed great bravery in the fighting near Juodaiziai on the 05.08.1944. All told the Germans claimed to have destroyed 371 tanks of the 5th Guards Tank Army in six days of battle across the sector of the Armeekorps.

II.) In the subsequent counterattack of the IX. Armeekorps in the Raseinen area (Operation Griffin) Krämer and his Zug once again distinguished themselves. While attached to a Kampfgruppe of the 252. Infanterie-Division, they played a major role in its energetic attack against the high ground northeast of Raseinen and the subsequent assault against the village itself. Both would fall to the Germans in this attack. Over the course of this operation, which was supported by elements of the 7. Panzer-Division, the enemy lost 63 tanks and 16 guns.
