"This L/CPL, one of the Coy signallers, showed the greatest coolness and fearlessness in bandaging and helping to evacuate wounded under heavy M.G. and shell fire. After carrying one man away he returned to Coy H.Q. to collect a Bren Gun although most of the Coy had withdrawn. He remained there, still under heavy fire, till ordered to withdraw by an officer. His courage and efforts were the greatest inspiration to all those around him. Throughout the campaign the conduct of this L/Cpl in every action had been of the very highest order."
