Granted because he was an example of courage and reliability for other Dutch tug skippers in the Second World War.
From his home town of Nijmegen, he sailed since 26 October 1944 under the guidance of British and Canadian Engineers with his tug “Pema”.
Presented in the summer of 1945 in The Hague.
