"Volunteered at the age of 45 to be trained as an Agent and has made three successful journeys into France.
In March 1942, he was landed in France to organize escape lines which he did so successfully, that he freed and brought out twelve agents who were in prison.
In February 1943, he came under notice of the Gestapo but was set free after an interrogation lsting several hours. He has displayed courage, endurance and devotion to duty to a very marked degree."
