They escaped from here on the 7th 1943 after much careful preparation. They received some help from Poles (unorganized) but between the 8th and 17th June 1943 were continually on the move travelling by train to Gdynia, Danzig, Lodz, Brombert(?), Zoppot, and other places. On 17th June they boarded a Swedish ship at Gdynia arriving at Stockholm on 22th June 1943.
Private Green speaks fluent German, the knowledge of which was a most important factor in this successful escape.
This Warrant Officer and Private showed the greatest courage, initiative and ingenuity. Both are recommended for awards of the D.C.M."
