Biography

Navigator in Lancaster PB292 OL-S which -on the return flight over the Jylland peninsula PB292 - was attacked by a German night fighter piloted by Ofhr Gerhard Wartenborger of 4./NJG 3 at approx. 03:30 hrs. The Lancaster caught fire and finally exploded in the air.
Of the 8 crew members, only 2 survived the crash and the war.

"This Officer has completed a tour of operations, throughout which he has proved himself to be a capable navigator of great accuracy and courage. In May, 1944, following an attack on a German military camp his aircraft encountered intense fighter opposition and was forced to fly over occupied territory at low level. It was largely owing to Squadron Leader Perkins' technical skill that the aircraft was able to return safely to base. At all times he has shown great determination and devotion to duty."
