On the night of 6th June, 1940 at LAUNAY about 12 miles N.E. of ROUEN when reliable information about the enemy was wanted, Sgt. RAMSAY took a patrol forward for several miles and obtained valuable information concerning enemy tanks. Later by his good leadership and personal example, he succeeded in withdrawing his men from an isolated position, which was attacked by tanks and came under fire from both flanks. Throughout a difficult situation, Sgt RAMSAY showed great courage and presence of mind in face of the enemy. His conduct was an inspiration to his men."
