"For extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving as a member of the Special Operations Branch, Office of Strategic Services Detachment, European Theater of Operations, in action against enemy forces from 7 July 1944 to 21 September 1944. Lieutenant Cormier was parachuted into France, in civilian clothes, and performed outstanding and heroic services in conducting sabotage and guerrilla warfare against enemy installations and forces. He effected great disruption in German traffic and communications, and was responsible for successfully placing explosives in the reservoirs which were used for water supply for railway engines. The courageous actions of Lieutenant Cormier and his ingenuity in accomplishing his mission caused serious interference in the movement of enemy troops and equipment and were of great benefit in the liberation of France.
